Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed as a lead worker in maintaining the supply store operation, controlling inventory levels, and directing work of other personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Plans and maintains stock quantities for inventory control.
Orders stock based on knowledge of inventory levels.
Identifies and locates sources for temporary or emergency stock items.
Performs physical inventories and maintains records.
Confers with sales representatives for stock orders and problems with orders.
Verifies shipments and deliveries with invoices, bills, shipping papers, and purchase orders.
Inspects stock and places it in proper storage area.
Approves invoices for payments.
Issues supplies and maintains records.
Ensures delivery of issued stock to other locations.
Maintains organization of storage areas.
Keep records and makes reports.
Drives vehicle.
Assigns and directs work of other personnel.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of stock inventory control procedures.
Knowledge of mathematics.
Knowledge of storekeeping methods and procedures.
Ability to make numerical computations and tabulations accurately.
Ability to order stock items in right quality and quantity on a timely basis.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Ability to direct work of others.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from standard high school. Valid Tennessee driver's license. Increasingly responsible experience involving shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
