Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in receiving shipments and maintaining warehouse stock. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Receives and verifies shipments.
Unloads trucks either by hand or by use of fork lift, dollies, carts, etc.
Initiates bid request on large quantities of items.
Initiates order based on knowledge of quantities remaining in bins.
Establishes and controls inventory at remote locations.
Stamps items with stock numbers and places items on shelves or in bins.
Matches invoices and approves payments.
Works issue counter by locating item in storage bins, and by filling out issue ticket when issuing item.
Processes temporary stock items as necessary.
Enters various information in ledgers, forms, blanks, etc.
Functions as storeroom supervisor as necessary.
Dispatches supply drivers.
Assists personnel identifying or locating numbers on items in catalogs, in bins, on shelves, etc.
Performs annual physical inventory.
Drives truck.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of stock inventory control procedures.
Ability to operate a forklift and truck.
Ability to use reference materials and manuals.
Ability to attend to detail.
Administrative and supervisory ability.
Ability to work with numbers and other numerical operations.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; valid driver's license; six months to one year experience involving shipping and receiving of inventory; typing ability.
