Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in installing and repairing pipe systems, plumbing fixtures, and related equipment and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Installs new plumbing equipment and fixtures.
Repairs and maintains existing plumbing equipment.
Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, or plans, and determines materials required.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of plumbing.
Knowledge of reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints and specifications.
Knowledge of all plumbing materials.
Ability to use tools required in the plumbing trade.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of a standard apprenticeship in the plumbing trade.
