Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed by photographing various college functions and processing and developing film for use in various campus publications and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Takes still pictures using both black and white and color film.
Processes black and white film and prints the pictures which includes exposing the negative, developing and fixing, and washing and drying the film.
Prepares color print or slide orders for outside processing and printing and/or processes color slides.
Cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment and tools.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of cameras and black and white photographic processing equipment.
Knowledge of basic techniques involved in taking pictures.
Knowledge of the process of developing and printing black and white film and processing color slides.
Ability to take color and black and white pictures.
Ability to use photographic equipment including cameras, strobe lights, processors, dryers, timers and enlargers.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school including or supplemented by basic photography courses. Some experience in photography.
