Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in assisting the Director in the day-to-day operations and all photographic services of the Photo Lab, and performing other work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Assists the Director of the Photo Lab in providing pleasing and interesting photographs combining artistic and technical elements for publications, news releases, audio visual presentations and other university, departmental and external client use.
Assists the Director in location photography of events in a variety of environments.Coordinates photography with internal and external clients.
Designs, edits and manipulates images for publication.
Completes multiple, complex duties at an advanced artistic and technical skill level.
Completes duties that require careful planning and organization to achieve end results.
Maintains exacting accuracy as required.
Maintains image and general office files.
Plans, organizes and prioritizes order of work.
Modifies existing and development of new photographic techniques and procedures.
Develops and applies problem solving techniques.
Maintains positive relationships with internal and external clients.
Assists in the day-to-day operation of the Photo Lab.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of principles and techniques of still and action photography.
Knowledge of photographic equipment.
Knowledge of image manipulation and presentation software.
Knowledge of computers.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently without close supervision.
Ability to multi-task, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to deal with a variety of people.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Bachelor’s degree in Art, Photography or related field; and two years experience as a photographer.
