Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in operating an offset printing press; printing bulletins, brochures, books, and other materials, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Operates offset press, loads paper, sets guides, places printing plate on press, positions the paper, changes ink, and maintains the press.
Operates a paper cutter, collator, and folding machine.
Prints bulletins, brochures, books and other materials.
Cuts, folds, and pads materials.
Assembles and binds booklets.
Delivers printed materials to various locations on campus.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of offset printing procedures and equipment.
Ability to operate offset printing and duplicating machinery.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to print high quality material.
Ability to operate machinery required for binding.
Ability to perform light maintenance on equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of the tenth grade. Some experience as an offset press operator.
