Definition
This class are under general supervision. Work performed in overseeing bookstore activities and maintaining bookstore security. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Waits on customers.
Verifies identification and approves checks and credit card purchases.
Determines buy back eligibility on used books, refunds on merchandise, etc.
Maintains bookstore security.
Observes customers and watches for shoplifters.
Contacts security office in case of emergency.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to work well with staff and students.
Willingness to work.
Ability to attend to details.
Knowledge of inventory procedures.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform to the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent, plus one year experience working in a bookstore.
