Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in directing educational outreach programs, and providing classroom and field instruction. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Contacts city school personnel to schedule lecture trips.
Prepares lecture outline and delivers lecture.
Answers questions and provides educational information.
Participates in workshops.
Contacts newspapers, radio and TV stations, etc., to obtain publicity for special events and programs.
Provides instruction in the areas of museum work, regional archeology, ethnology, and digging techniques.
Researches catalogs of films and selects film to use.
Schedules showings to public school groups, archeology classes, adult extension classes, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Willingness to work and willingness to work with others.
Verbal expression.
Administrative and supervisory ability.
Knowledge of archaeological field work.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Bachelor's degree in Anthropology; museum training or experience in Archaeological Field Work.
