Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in building maintenance responsibilities and supervising a custodial crew and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates work schedules and assignments of custodial crew.
Performs maintenance work on electrical, plumbing and air conditioning systems.
Services and repairs mowing equipment.
Keeps records of scheduled preventive maintenance and non-scheduled repair work.
Requisitions parts, supplies and equipment.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of methods, materials and procedures used in building repair and maintenance work.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of machines, tools, and equipment used in a variety of maintenance tasks including electrical, plumbing and air conditioning.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision.
Ability to assign, supervise and inspect the work of others.
Ability to use and operate a variety of tools and equipment required in the performance of duties.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to keep maintenance records.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Considerable experience in building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and air conditioning systems.
