Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in supervising lock shop. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Plans and assigns work load.
Inspects work of subordinates.
Compiles reports on records.
Orders shop equipment.
Compiles OSHA and grand master key reports.
Inspects doors and related hardware for code compliance.
Represents division at planning conferences.
Makes emergency calls when required.
Works as a locksmith when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of lock mechanisms.
Administrative and supervisory ability.
Knowledge of safety codes and standards pertaining to design and hardware of lock systems.
Ability to work with numbers and other numerical operations.
Ability to operate machines and tools of the locksmith trade.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Must meet bonding requirement; high school graduate or equivalent; Vo-tech diploma or certificate of completed training as a locksmith plus 2-5 years experience; supervisory experience preferred.
