Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in the administration and supervision of student residence hall staff and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Recruits, selects, assigns and supervises residence hall staff personnel.
Makes housing assignments to students residing in the dormitories or other campus housing.
Directs the preparation and execution of the student housing contracts.
Insures housing facilities receive proper custodial and maintenance care.
Supervises meetings for residence hall staff.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of organizational rules, regulations and procedures regarding housing.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of the inspection of dwellings and the regulatory codes pertaining to housing.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to direct the work of others.
Ability to keep records and make reports.
Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, the public and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Some experience in rental property management and building inspection or a related field.
