Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in directing the work of custodial supervisors, and overseeing institutional housekeeping program. Performs other duties as assigned.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Directs the work of custodial supervisors.
Instructs in conducting cleaning inspections, completing forms, making reports, etc.
Interviews and hires custodial employees.
Inspects buildings, rooms, apartments, homes, etc. for cleaning requirements.
Provides estimates for completing cleaning projects.
Discusses and reviews joint projects such as cleaning, painting and repairs with trades supervisors.
Performs administrative duties.
Compiles information and submits reports.
Keeps and references library of manuals, catalogs, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of housekeeping policies and procedures.
Ability to plan, modify, and rearrange work schedules.
Ability to train supervisors.
Knowledge of methods, materials and tools common to custodial activities.
Ability to interview applicants and maintain personnel records.
Administrative ability.
Ability to evaluate new and existing custodial products.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. High school graduate or equivalent; three years experience supervising custodial workers; ability to utilize language (either oral or written) to communicate information or ideas to others.
