Definition 

Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in cleaning, preparing meals, and assisting in entertaining guests in the President's house and performing related work as required. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares meals and cleans dishes and kitchen.

Dusts furniture and floors.

Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors.

Vacuums carpets.

Irons clothes and puts them in proper place.

Plans and prepares for receptions, parties, dinners, and luncheons and serves at these functions.

Performs other work as assigned. 

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of procedures and practices of housekeeping for a family.

Knowledge of equipment involved in housekeeping.

Knowledge of proper operations to maintain an easy flow of activity in the house.

Knowledge of plans and preparations required for receptions, dinners, etc. and the proper procedures for serving at such functions.

Ability to operate equipment involved in housekeeping.

Ability to prepare meals.

Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.

Ability to plan, prepare and serve at various social functions.

Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public, the President and family, and other employees. 

Recommended Qualifications

Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Considerable experience in housekeeping.
