Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in maintaining services, discipline, and supervising students in a residence dormitory on campus, and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Inspects facilities for cleanliness, maintenance repairs, and that health and sanitation requirements are maintained.
Establishes and maintains a good rapport with students.
Assigns students to rooms and roommates and makes adjustments as required.
Maintains a student-information card file.
Plans and organizes dormitory activities in accordance with rules and regulations of the university.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the University.
Knowledge of safety and sanitation requirements.
Knowledge of basic methods and principles of supervision.
Ability to relate to students, to understand their problems and to offer help when needed.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of one year of college. Experience in dealing with young people, preferably students.
