Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in overseeing a computerized energy conservation system and related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Performs 3rd and 4th level programming.
Translates building users' desires into mechanical requirements and directs system in performance by updating variables on terminal.
Updates terminal with specific directions as directed from other air conditioning, electrical and engineering personnel.
Responds to system's equipment failure messages by directing appropriate working crew to proper area.
May respond to system on equipment failure messages, as needed.
Recommends to Director or engineers more energy efficient schedules of operation.
Notifies repair crews at other institutions which may be a part of this system about equipment failure messages.
May serve as maintenance and repairman in a variety of mechanical trades.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of electrical, air conditioning, refrigeration, and other selected mechanical trades.
Knowledge of computerized energy conservation systems.
Ability to interpolate user's desires into mechanical requirements.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Completion of a standard apprenticeship in electrical or air conditioning/heating/refrigeration trades. Additional experience in selected trades. Experience or training in operation of a computerized energy conservation system.
