Our Mission
The Center for Cardiovascular Risk Research (CCRR), a cross-disciplinary collaboration,
will mitigate cardiovascular diseases burden, alleviate health disparities, and address
health inequities among the rural, socioeconomically disadvantaged population of Central
Appalachia by providing multidisciplinary research, health promotion and education,
policy analysis, and risk management. The CCRR will engage in research that demonstrates
cultural competency and health literacy engendered through the adoption and implementation
of patient-centered care, patient-centered outcomes research, and comparative effectiveness
research.
Our Vision
The Center for Cardiovascular Risk Research will reduce or eliminate cardiovascular
diseases and associated risk factors in Central Appalachia while addressing the health
disparities and healthcare inequities experienced by residents of the region.
