Community Engagement Committee

Charge:

ETSU’s Community Engagement Committee is a standing committee that reports to the Provost. The primary mission of the Committee is to recommend processes to institutionalize and promote Community Engagement at ETSU. This will be accomplished by supporting and recognizing faculty and staff who embed Community Engagement in the academic core, developing opportunities for student engagement, and providing pathways for community organizations to create partnerships with campus entities.

The committee and its subcommittees will:

• Review and develop campus-wide recognition avenues for community engagement and make recommendations to the Provost for staff and faculty recognition for excellence in community engagement;
• Review grant requests from faculty and staff to implement Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) projects and make funding recommendations to the Provost/designee;
• Support and advise on university-wide community engagement professional development and training for faculty, staff, and community partners;
• Facilitate student access to community engagement activities in a manner that promotes student retention and degree completion; and
• Monitor and refine campus-wide reporting processes that ensure compliance with SACSCOC and maintain the highest standards for Community Engagement as defined by the Carnegie Foundation.

Attendance Policy:

The Community Engagement Committee aims to meet twice a semester, with subcommittees meeting as needed. Times and locations of these meetings will be sent to members in advance.
