Jason is a humanities educator with more than 20 years of experience teaching across secondary and higher education in Orlando, Asheville, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Originally from Johnson City, he is a CDST alumn who holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from ETSU and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Central Florida. His teaching background includes humanities, philosophy, mythology, literature, composition, religious studies, interdisciplinary studies, and academic writing, with experience working with traditional, nontraditional, and neurodiverse students.

Jason's academic interests center on interdisciplinary approaches to complex problems, particularly the intersections of philosophy, culture, technology, psychology, economics, and media. He is especially interested in ancient wisdom traditions, the contemporary search for meaning, myth-making, speculative futures, and the ways interdisciplinary thinking can help students make sense of an increasingly complex world. His teaching emphasizes critical thinking, creative problem-solving, cultural literacy, and the practical application of ideas across disciplinary boundaries.

Outside the classroom, Jason enjoys speculative fiction, genre films, heavy metal music, and the LA Lakers, Dodgers, and Washington Commanders. He also enjoys cooking and spending time with his spouse, Jennifer, and their fifteen-pound K-9 kid, Chewie.
