The East Tennessee State University’s Little Buccaneers Program invites you to the “Through The Eyes Of Children: 1st Annual Little Bucs Art Exhibit Fundraiser” showcasing the ‘Little Bucs’ children’s masterpieces from March 25 to 28, 2013 at the Slocumb Galleries. The event will culminate in a reception and silent auction results on Thursday, March 28th from 4 to 7 p.m. Viewing of works and bidding for the silent auction starts Monday, March 25th at 8 a.m. through Thursday. The winning bids will be announced during the reception with ETSU’s First Lady Donna Noland as Guest of Honor.
The Little Buccaneers Early Childhood Laboratory Program, also known as ‘Little Bucs,’ is part of the Center of Excellence in Early Childhood Learning and Development within the Clemmer College of Education. Little Bucs serves as a childcare facility for ETSU students’ children and adjunct faculty, ages 3 months through 5 years, as well as a laboratory and research environment for ETSU students and faculty. The Program is committed to creating and maintaining a place for children that acknowledges, reflects and communicates our values, which are based on an image of the child as curious, competent and capable of co-constructing knowledge.
The teachers and the administrative staff at Little Bucs have organized the creative output of the children, ages 3 to 63 months, who have been engaged in creating inspirational pieces of art in forms ranging from painting on canvas/unique paper, sculpture using clay and various materials, photography, and other media in varying dimension.
Tickets are available for $5.00 per adult to attend the exhibit reception (children 12 and under attend free) and may be purchased at Little Bucs prior to the exhibit and during the reception at Slocumb Galleries. All artworks in the exhibit are available for acquisition; the smaller works may be acquired through donation while the larger, collaborative works are available for purchase through the silent auction. All works sold may be picked up during the reception.
