Introduction to D2L for New Instructors

Event Description:
This hands-on workshop will provide an introduction to D2L, ETSU’s learning management system. Participants will learn how to navigate the environment, how to upload content to their courses, and how to create basic assessments. Participants will also learn how to use the, class list, email, and news tools. This workshop is designed for instructors interested in using D2L as an instructional tool. The material is geared to participants that have had very little or no experience at all with D2L. No prior D2L experience is needed. 
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to navigate to their courses in the LE, as well as locate the 7 major tools available in the D2L learning environment. The five tools include: News, Classlist, Content, Assessments, Discussions, Dropbox, Gradebook.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to successfully send an email to the classlist using one of the two methods covered in the workshop.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to create a news item within the News tool.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to add and organize course materials within the Content tool.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to describe the primary functions of the four evaluation tools in D2L: Assessments, Discussions, Dropbox, and Grades.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to create a discussion board forum and topic as well as identify one key difference between a forum and a topic.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to create a dropbox folder and access student submissions.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will be able to identity one key difference between a quiz and the question library.
·         Upon completion of the Introduction to D2L for New Instructors session, the participant will complete the seven steps of the Grades Setup Wizard.
