The ETSU Department of Art & Design and Slocumb Galleries present “Art From the Valley” featuring Watauga Valley Art League members from June 2nd through June 27, 2014. The public is cordially invited to meet the artists and enjoy refreshments during the reception on June 12th, Thursday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Established in 1969, the WVAL has 100+ members in the six Northeastern counties of Tennessee. Our mission is to encourage artists and promote public interest in fine art through education, networking and fellowship among our artists. WVAL membership consists of art teachers, professionals hobbyists, amateurs and some who just love art. The League has monthly informational programs and demonstrations, sponsors member art exhibits, has a free video Art Library, and participates in community service art projects. The League sponsors a minimum of four shows a year, provides monthly educational meetings, teaches courses, and sponsors art workshops.
The exhibit includes oil, pastel, watercolor, and mixed media paintings. The participating artists are: Mary K. Brown, Jo Anne Bucher, Linda Campbell, John Charles, Nyela Hand Cohoon, Sheryl T. Daniels, Judith E. Donley, Susan K. Donner, Joan Elliott, Martha Erwin, Karen A. Foote, Don Gotterbarn, Janet Hartmann, Barbara B. Jernigan, David M. Kramer, Linda Loffmin, Brenda McNenny, Edward W. Puhr, Patricia K. Reading, Wayne Ritchie, Angie Shepherd, Ken Simmelink, June Campbell Simmons, Jim Stagner, Brenda Wallace, Thomas H. White, Jo Ann Wilkerson-Lyle, Barbara “Jake” Wilson.
Most of the paintings are for sale at the reception or during open hours through June 27th.
