Event Description: The Tai Chi class studies the first form in the Chen system, the first style of Tai Chi. Tai Chi practice is excellent for overall health, balance and coordination, and involves learning to use the whole body in performing its martial arts techniques. The form can be learned and practiced by people of nearly any age, with or without martial arts experience. Initial focus is on learning the first five movements of the form, which takes only a few minutes to perform but offers a coherent set of movements for practice that can be learned in a reasonable time. Students who wish may continue in the class and learn the eighty-five movements of the whole form. The instructor strongly recommends that students who wish to study Chen Tai Chi begin the course during the first two or three weeks of the semester as the study builds from week to week. |
