The Relevance of Buddhist Teachings in Psychotherapy

Presenter: Linda Good, LPC/MHSP

A student of Buddhism and psychotherapist in private practice, Linda realized the relevance of Buddhist Teachings to psychotherapy -- especially Existential Therapy. This hour and a half interaction features comparative elements of Existential Psychotherapy and Buddhist Teachings and her research in the growing movement towards the application of Buddhism to Western Psychotherapy. A brief review of the effects of mindfulness mediation on brain chemistry will be included.

This National Association of Social Work - Tennessee approved Continuing Education Session will earn 1.5 hours of CEU credit. Continuing Education Sessions have a fee to attend. However, one fee will cover an unlimited number of sessions for the day. The workshop fees are:

$45     Individual

$30     NASW members and Department of Social Work's Community Advisory Committee

Free   ETSU Field Instructors, Task Supervisors, Students, ETSU Department of Social Work Adjuncts, and speakers.

Please ensure you have registered online prior to sending payment. We are unable to take credit/debit cards. Please pay CASH OR CHECK ONLY. Checks should be made payable to ETSU/Social Work. If using an agency check or paying for multiple registrants, please include a list of registrants' names with payment. Checks must be received no later than February 21st or you will pay at the door. Individuals may register at the door on February 28 if openings are still available.

This session is part of the Department of Social Work's Career Day 2014, which includes a job fair, continuing education sessions and getting ready for the job market sessions. More information about the other sessions and fair can be found in the attachments for this event. Attendance at any of the sessions requires pre-registration for each session. Agencies who wish to have a table at the job fair must pre-register. However, those who wish to visit the fair may come on a drop-in basis throughout the time of the job fair.
