Event Description:

Along the Horizon: Contemporary Drawing in Tennessee - curated by Vanessa Mayoraz and Andrew Scott Ross

From January 16 to February 23, 2018 concurrently at the Slocumb Galleries and Reece Museum.

Panel Discussion: February 15, 2018 at 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Ball Hall auditorium at ETSU. Speakers: Stephan Wicks, Curator at the Knoxville Museum of Art, Richard A. Lou, Chair of the Department of Art at the University of Memphis, and Denise Stewart-Sanabria, Artist.

Reception: February 15, 2018 from 7-8 p.m. Reece Museum with light refreshments.

Along the Horizon: Contemporary Drawing in Tennessee focuses on artists living in, or from Tennessee, who consider drawing as a substantial part of their contemporary practice. The thirteen contributing artists, residing in cities from Memphis to Johnson City, use a wide range of methodologies, which explore the limits, and traditions of the medium.

This exhibition and reception is a partnership with the Reece Museum, Slocumb Galleries, and the Mary B. Martin School of the Arts.

The Reece Museum is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 am until 4:30 pm. Admission is free and parking passes are available for weekday visitors.

Group tours are also available. For more information, to arrange a group tour, or for special assistance for those with disabilities, contact the Reece Museum at (423) 439-4392.
Remarks:
The Slocumb Galleries are open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays until 6 p.m., during receptions and group tours. Located at 232 Sherrod Drive, ETSU campus.

The Tipton Gallery is located at 126 Spring st., Downtown Johnson City. Open on Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 7 p.m., First Friday receptions, and by appointment.In partnership with Urban Redevelopment Alliance.
