The Iran Job, documentary film
Start Date: 2/3/2014Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Date: 2/3/2014End Time: 9:30 PM

Event Description:

Kevin Sheppard, an American point guard from tiny St. Croix in the Virgin Islands, didn’t make it into the NBA, but has built a career playing basketball overseas. In this documentary, Sheppard accepts a job in one of the world’s most feared countries – Iran – and immerses himself in the country’s urban subculture and its intellectual, political and sexual energy. Despite its jarring political context, the promise of the movie, which is chockfull of humor and budding friendships, is a hopeful one, of reconciliation and human interconnectivity.

Following a screening of the film, the filmmaker and the audience will engage in a discussion about the film. A reception with the filmmaker follows.

Presented by the Mary B. Martin School of the Arts, the 2013-14 Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers is a program of South Arts. Southern Circuit screenings are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and local partner organizations.
