Benedict’s sculptures in wood and ceramics explore the geometric forms, particularly the triangle, she also have aquatint prints that pay homage to family members. Blevins’ large scale drawings are images of children at play, at first innocent and playful, yet on closer look reveal structures of control and violence. Davis is majoring in Graphic Design with minor in Digital Media, her goal is to “visually express ideas in her mind” through her work. Various ceramic vessels are featured in the show, mostly by Deckard whose work celebrates the “fluidity of clay” and is “intrigued by the unity of form and function. The works by Gray in encaustic and intaglio are distinct in form but similar in theme of “nostalgia and curiosity”, encouraging viewers to think “beyond the surface meaning” of the pieces. Lastly, Turbyfill’s works either in etched print, drawing, or digital media explore images in nature and the objects of play.
